Over two decades since his arrival, WFXT anchor Frank Mallicoat is saying goodbye to New England and returning to his home state of California. Mallicoat, the now former weekend anchor at Fox 25, accepted the position of morning news anchor at San Francisco’s KPIX-TV, the local CBS affiliate and a stablemate and Group W station with WBZ.
Mallicoat began his tenure in New England at WMUR in 1986, then as a sports reporter for the old WLVI in 1992, and subsequently moved to Detroit in 1997. However, he returned to WB56 in 1998 as the sports director. He became the primary anchor in 2002 and maintained that position until the dissolution of the station’s news department in December 2006. He joined Fox 25 in 2007 as a weekend anchor.
His final newscast was this evening at 10pm, and he begins work at San Francisco’s Channel 5 in February. His replacement has not yet been named. Hit the jump for his final sign-off from Fox 25′s 10pm newscast.

I’ll miss Frank, he was a class act. I remember him back in his days on The Ten O’Clock News. It was a real treat to be able to watch him again on Fox after 7 took over 56. A big loss for Boston but he’ll find great success with viewers in California. We’ll miss you, Frank.
Sorry to see Frank leave. I used to watch him when I lived in New Hampshire and was happy to see him in Boston. Best of luck to him as he goes home to California. He will be missed.
Frank, good luck in California. I remember watching you on the bowling show in NH, and was glad to see you at Fox 25…..I hope the other people are watching their backs….Fox has lost it……they have almost replaced everyone….
