7 News Today in New England will be expanding to the 9am hour beginning on August 22nd. According to a recent promo and various rumblings throughout the Boston TV News community, the morning newscast will expand from its current timeslot of 5-7 a.m. to the 9-10 a.m. hour. This move comes after the departure of Live! with Regis and Kelly and the subsequent move to WCVB.
Also, Thursday night will be Frances Rivera’s last day at 7 Bulfinch Place. As we reported earlier, the popular lead anchor at channel 7 will make the move to New York City where she will serve as the morning anchor at WPIX, NYC’s affiliate of The CW.
I will not be watching the Third hour of TINE at 9 AM I do not like WHDH 7 News I watch WCVB 5 for my news they are the best in myopinion I will take WCVB 5 over watching WHDH 7 anyday FOX 25 is horrible too WBZ is not that good anymore in my opinion so WCVB 5 is the best and it shows in the ratings Good Luck to WHDH with there 9 AM Newscast Mon-Frid but I will not be watching.
That promotional advertisement is wild. But, it does remind me of more substantial news coverage on 7 a few years ago. Randy and Caterina and also Randy and Frances. I just happened to have 7 on just a moment ago and they have this whole big story on a “Honeymoon Horror”. I mean it was just a stupid story from somewhere else in the country and I can’t even remember a few minutes later. They have really become a joke.
Good for Frances that she got a promotion at another station. I’m sure she is glad to leave 7. And what ever happened to Kim Khezi. I never heard where she went.

According to kim’s facebook page:she injured her hamstring bone back in july and will be out for the recovery. i think Amanda Grace is on tonight with christa since amanda was not on the 7 news at noon. also i heard a rumor that jonathan hall has been promoted to lead anchor at 4,4:30,5,6 news casts. If this is true he may start monday
Jonathan Hall would be a little old and professionally mature for a station that loves stuff looking like a gimmick. At this point, 7 is not really a significant player like they used to be and amazingly, putting someone like Jonathon Hall would be a great move they probably will not make.
Rumor has it that she had a facelift. The “injury” she proclaims to have usually happens to professional athletes. Amazing she got the whole summer off. What a role model
Wes I believe that a guy by the name of Reid Lamberty(freelancer from Miami) was seen doing a tape with Kim today. So I think he will be the new lead anchor not Jonathan.

Nobody said Lamberty was getting the spot, only that he had auditioned for it. Also, the facelift rumor is unfounded and (even if true) irrelevant to the discussion.

I saw on Jonathan Hall’s twitter that the asst. news director has promoted Jonathan to lead anchor for the 4,4:30,5,530,6 newscasts. Maybe since it’s summer?? Where has sorboni been? She has been off for this whole hurricane irene coverage and weeks before that too. I think WCVB 5 did the best job with there coverage this past weekend of the storm I watched each of the stations and found WCVB 5 and Harvey to be the best with info and coverage Have a Nice Day keep up the great news coverage WCVB ch. 5
Your biggest clue that the Jon Hall thing was a one-off (i.e. only happening that night but inadvertently phrased on Twitter to make it sound permanent) is that he has subsequently been reporting on weeknight broadcasts. Let’s hold fire on this one for now.
Max I know the assistant ND does not twitter and you also should know that the assistant new director would not be the one telling Jon Hall that he had got there main anchor job. i was just showing how all you people no nothing. Reid is a freelancer fromWSVN was offered a anchor job there but turned it down. Jon Hall twitted that he had the lead story for the 4/5/6.
According to ann allred’s tweet tonight..kim khazei will only be on 3 days a week now for a while. Christa must be on vacation now so ann/amanda were on tonight and maybe tomorrow night too
Referring to folks you’re having a discussion with as “all you people” sure is a way to win friends and influence people! Seriously, though, BTVN’s been around for ten years and broken dozens of stories; I expect that to continue, but in this instance, nobody is claiming to know anything more than the rudimentary evidence which has thus far been presented to us. That is what we have to toss around for now, and so we shall, as long as no-one’s feelings get hurt by overly-personal remarks.

i agree with Max that Randy Price is glad the day he walked out of 7. He now has a number one news program without all of the stupid tv that is WHDH.
