7 News has brought in a fresh face to their weekend evening newscasts. 7 has finally replaced weekender Dave Kartunen, who left the station earlier this year. Sarah French, most recently a morning anchor at ex-’LVI sister station WTIC in Hartford, departed the Tribune outlet for Boston. This signals the end of months of speculation noted by our friends at The Laurel.
WTIC, the station that brought Connecticut such journalistic highlights such as “Big Boob Fridays,” is shuffling around their anchor lineups in the wake of her departure. Lead anchor Ericka Arias is headed to the morning shift, and current weekend anchor Alison Morris will take over duties at 10 and 11.
Still no word from ‘HDH brass about the anchor slot open at 4 and 5:30.
Sarah replaces Amanda Grace. Amanda is filling in on 4/5:30. My gut feeling she will get the job. They love her
Predictions: She will most likely be anchoring with Reid Lamberty after the first of the year. She will bump Anne Allred to cover the Olympics this year.

Looks like Amanda got moved off the AM – the new (edited) promos they just started running don’t include her as part of the morning team.
My theory is that Grace’s move to the morning show was never intended to be permanent; only a way to get her more exposure from the relatively anonymous weekend shift. She’ll probably pull a Przybyl and “fill-in” at 4 and 5:30 for a long period of time until they either make it official or hire someone else.
Somehow, “pulling a Przybyl” sounds like a particularly uncomfortable medical procedure!

“Main” anchor is hardly a term you would use for a station that is not driven by anchors.. Now more than ever, 7 is the epitome of a shallow “news”cast with what could be nameless talking heads. Sarah what’s her name is a perfect fit. Let’s hope she brings “Big Boob Fridays” from her Hartford station to start giving some distinction to 7 that they really didn’t pull off with their failed “girl squad” “main” anchor team. I haven’t seen Reid Lamberti, but he has to be an improvement over that.
And Max that is a good question about what ever happened to their big build up for mornings. I thought they were going to do an extra hour and so forth.
James, they have – the extra hour is 9-10am in place of Regis and Kelly, which has moved over to 5.
not a fan of lamberty or khazei, so I’m done with 7 for a while…SVN just got a new graphics package, maybe a sign of things to come for HDH
