Popular Today’s TMJ4 anchor and reporter Shelley Walcott has left the Milwaukee NBC affil for a spot as primary anchor at New Hampshire’s WMUR. The move was reported on her Twitter page recently, with Walcott saying:
Hi all: Wanted to announce I am leaving TMJ4 at the end of next week. Have accepted a main anchor job in New Hampshire. Bittersweet day!
Walcott joined the station in 2005 after stints in Columbus, Montreal, and on CNN in Atlanta. TMJ4 general manager Steve Wexler commented on her departure, remarking, “Shelley is a very talented anchor and reporter, we’re going to miss her, but we are also very excited for her. She’ll be the main anchor on her new station and closer to her family.” No word on her first day at channel 9.
Off topic, but I’m fairly sure NECN just hired the guy who used to do the voice-over for 7NEWS newscasts to do the voice-overs for their newscasts and TV Diner…might be something to look into
