A familiar reporter is returning to Boston after a six year hiatus. Sean Hennessey, a reporter at 7 News until 2007, is leaving WCBS in New York for a job at Boston College.
A spokesperson for the station told FishbowlNY, “the WCBS family wishes Sean the best as he starts his new career as an associate editor of news and public affairs at Boston College.”
In addition to this new role, the 11-year veteran of channel 7 is also likely to take an adjunct professorship with the university.
Hot off the heels of the announcement of reporter Victoria Block’s retirement, multiple sources have informed btvn that 7News has reportedly decided to blow up their anchor teams. The changes begin on Today in New England, where Christa Delcamp returns to the anchor desk, a spot that she occupied until 2007, when she was switched with the now-former 7er Anne Allred. Newcomer Kayna Whitworth officially assumes co-anchor role in the morning. The 2006 theme continues with Jeremy Reiner’s official return to the morning weather desk, a position he held until he was swapped with also now-former 7er Dylan Dreyer. The more things change…
The changes continue into the afternoon, where Adam Williams will co-anchor First at 4:00, 4:30, and 5:30. Rising star Sarah French will co-anchor the afternoon shows for the time being, until Amanda Grace returns, when she will switch over to the weekend evening shows.
The only slots not affected are at 6:00 and 11:00, where 7’s primary anchor team of Kim Khazei and Reid Lamberty will be spared. Sources tell btvn that drastic changes were contemplated but because of strong 25-54 demographics, were left alone.
The musical chairs went into effect on Monday.
Longtime 7News reporter Victoria Block is retiring. The veteran reporter announced today that she has decided to move on “Because I can

Covering the “Crisis in the Church” from Vatican City, the September 11th Terrorist Attacks from New York City, among a host of other notables, Block oversaw a successful career that spanned more than three decades.
Prior to joining 7 in the late 1986, Block was a reporter at the now-defunct WHDH-AM (850). UPDATE: Her last day at 7 will be March 19th (hat tip to TVSpy)
7News morning anchor Anne Allred is done at the NBC-affil. The six-year veteran reported on her Twitter that she had accepted a job in St. Louis.

After arriving on Bulfinch Place in 2006 from the ABC and Fox duopoly in Columbus, Ohio, Allred was quickly promoted to weekday mornings. Along with fellow former-weekender Adam Williams, Allred oversaw the expansion of the morning newscast as well as the addition of a third anchor.
No word on her start date in St. Louis.
7News has announced that they have hired a new weekend morning anchor. Kayna Whitworth, currently with Tucson CBS-affil KOLD, will join the station as weekday reporter and weekend anchor.
Whitworth has spent the past two years in Tucson, where she joined in 2010 from a station in Idaho. No word yet on her arrival on Bulfinch Place.
Adam Harding, son of NewsCenter5 frontman Ed Harding, is leaving his post at WMUR in New Hampshire and moving to 7News.
News first broke when Harding announced on his Twitter page, “Saying a fond farewell to New Hampshire and#WMUR. I’ve enjoyed my years here immensely. I’m happy to say I’ll now be reporting for #WHDH.” He had been with WMUR for two years, following a stint in Washington state as a one-man-band reporter. Adam Harding’s first day is Wednesday August 15th.
7News morning and noon meteorologist Dylan Dreyer is leaving Bulfinch Place for a “once-in-a-lifetime” opportunity. In an email sent by news director Linda Miele, the affable met was lauded for her cheery demeanor and accurate forecasting, remarking, “It’s hard to imagine the Weather Center without Dylan’s smile [and] her fabulous forecasting,” adding, “…we’re very excited for her and wish her all kinds of success.”
Her next assignment is unknown, but sources tell Boston dot com that Dreyer and her beau have purchased a home in New Jersey, which they claim could be a move to the Today Show.
Dreyer, who has been with the station since 2007, replaced Jeremy Reiner, who switched to weekends in 2008. No word yet on her replacement.
WHDH has added a trio of reporters to their news operations. TVSpy reported on Monday that the staffers will be joining from significantly smaller markets.
The expansion news begins with Brandon Gunnoe, formerly an anchor and reporter at KVOA in Tucson, joins 7 as a weekend anchor and weekday reporter, replacing newser-turned-professor Dave Kartunen. Nancy Chen has also signed a contract with the station to be a reporter. She previously worked at KSBY. Also, Alexandra Field arrives on Bulfinch Place as a freelance reporter. She comes from WRGB, the CBS-affil in Albany.
7 News anchor Sorboni Banerjee has left Bulfinch Place. The Herald reports today that the popular weekender is headed to Fox25.
Banerjee, who joined WHDH in 2006, is moving up the dial to work alongside Gene Lavanchy and Shannon Mulaire on the Fox25 Morning News.
No word yet on her last day at 7 or her debut on Fox.
