Making 7 Look Old: FoxCT Hires High Schooler

FoxCT, Connecticut’s Fox affiliate, has hired a high school student as a reporter.  Ben Goldman, a junior at Wethersfield High School in Connecticut, will report on charity events around the state.

The segment, which will air Thursdays on the FoxCT News at 4, is described by the station as “keeping Connecticut charitable.”  For Goldman, the charity segment hits close to home.  As a brain cancer survivor, he “knows the positive impact they can have on a person’s life.”

Former NewsCenter5 News Director and current FoxCT ND Colleen Marren told the Courant that ”we are thrilled to have Ben join the team.”

FoxCT Adds AM Reporter

Tribune’s WTIC is expanding by one.  FoxCT, the Connecticut station that has been growing a lot recently, has reportedly hired Jan Carabeo as a reporter for their morning newscast.

According to our friends at The Laurel, Carabeo joins the station from Syracuse, NY-station WSYR.  Prior to that, she spent two years working at WIVT, the ABC-affil in Binghamton, NY.

Jan Carabeo’s first day on FoxCT is tomorrow morning.

7 Summons Sarah

7 News has brought in a fresh face to their weekend evening newscasts. 7 has finally replaced weekender Dave Kartunen, who left the station earlier this year.  Sarah French, most recently a morning anchor at ex-’LVI sister station WTIC in Hartford, departed the Tribune outlet for Boston.  This signals the end of months of speculation noted by our friends at The Laurel.

WTIC, the station that brought Connecticut such journalistic highlights such as “Big Boob Fridays,” is shuffling around their anchor lineups in the wake of her departure.  Lead anchor Ericka Arias is headed to the morning shift, and current weekend anchor Alison Morris will take over duties at 10 and 11.

Still no word from ‘HDH brass about the anchor slot open at 4 and 5:30.
